Rolling Out the Red Carpet for Biden and Harris

Look for the libs in the media to turn it up to 11 when it comes to effusive praise of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris during their Inauguration coverage.

They’ve already started with the magazine spreads. From Time naming Biden-Harris “Person of the Year” to Vogue’s fashion shoot with the incoming Vice President. (The media is so in the tank for the new Dem team that Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour was actually forced to apologize for not being flattering enough to Harris.)

As my colleague Rich Noyes pointed out, journalists love to roll out the red carpet for incoming Democratic administrations and they’ve been paving the way for Team Biden-Harris for awhile now.

The following are just some of the over-the-top adulation for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris dating back to when Biden first announced he was running for President:

Biden + Harris = “Hope Reborn”

“Both of them, they strengthen each other….They’re both steadier together. They’re both stronger together. That was such a beautiful thing to see. I think if you’re going to give a headline today it would be ‘Hope Reborn.’ That’s what I felt. Hope reborn….They blew me away.”

— Political commentator Van Jones on CNN’s The Situation Room, August 12, 2020.

Joe Biden, “The Perfect Guy”

“Everybody’s been so worried about Joe Biden, is he the right guy? I think he’s the perfect guy. He is comfort.”

— Former advertising executive/MSNBC host Donny Deutsch on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, June 8, 2020.

The “Decency and Democracy” Candidate

“What was on the ballot here was decency and democracy and empathy, and Joe Biden is particularly well-equipped for this moment.”

— Former Newsweek editor, MSNBC presidential historian and current Joe Biden speechwriter Jon Meacham on MSNBC’s live election coverage of Biden victory speech, November 7, 2020.

WH Reporter’s Non-Endorsement Endorsement of “Madame Vice President”

“But if you come there in January, and I get to raise my — please answer my question — if I raise my hand, I get to say ‘Madame Vice President.’ Do you know that sends chills through me? And you look like me! Does that give you chills?…I can’t endorse, but what I say is if I get to say ‘Madame Vice President,’ that’s gonna send chills through me. That’s all I’m gonna say!…Go vote everyone!”

— CNN political analyst and White House correspondent for American Urban Radio Networks April Ryan, in an interview with Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Senator Kamala Harris, as streamed on Ryan’s Instagram account, September 21, 2020.

Bouquets to Biden

“We are really lucky, I think, to have a President who’s just really hard to hate at a time when our politics is so infused with hate.”

New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman on CNN’s Reliable Sources, December 6, 2020.

“Steady” Joe’s Gaffes Are Really “Empathy”

“He’s steady, he’s measured, he doesn’t always stay on script. We’ll see if he does that as President. He has a long history, we used to call them gaffes, now, in this climate, it’s something different entirely: empathy is really what shines through.”

— White House correspondent Jeff Zeleny on CNN New Day, November 25, 2020.

Host Chuck Todd: “There’s a part of Biden that seems more Reagan-esque, that way you’re like, ‘Oh, it’s grandpa, it’s Uncle Joe,’ whatever that is. ‘Eh, let the old man do it.’”…

Vice News Washington bureau chief Shawna Thomas: “When Trump lies, it’s about Google and Google changing votes, and making you scared about things. When Joe Biden lies, it’s about trying to say he’s going to be commander-in-chief and he understands heroism.”…

— Discussion about Vice President Joe Biden peddling a false war story at campaign events as aired on NBC’s Meet the Press, September 1, 2019.

There’s “Euphoria,” “Jubilation” in This “Nationwide Block Party”

CBS Evening News anchor Norah O’Donnell: “While there is disappointment among President Trump’s supporters and Republicans, there is also a sense of euphoria in this country.”

CBS This Morning co-host Gayle King: “Yeah. I called it unbridled exuberance. It’s like, Norah, the country is having a nationwide block party….You feel it. The joy is palpable out there….The weather was so beautiful….It’s almost like Mother Nature was cooperating on this day.”

CBS News 2020: America Decided, November 7, 2020.

Cooing Over Kamala

“She’s [Kamala Harris is] so impressive. The clips you ran a little while ago of her work in which she did share a committee — the way she could prosecute people like William Barr and Jeff Sessions and, you know, these are tough birds that she’s able to really put on the hot seat….

She is, in my mind, the finest prosecutor I’ve ever seen in my life of watching politics and Washington lawmakers. She’s just unbelievably smart, articulate, and good.”

— CNN presidential historian Douglas Brinkley on CNN Tonight, August 11, 2020.

She’s So Relatable!

“[Kamala] Harris, meanwhile, brought a cultural competency that attracted the next generation of Democrats, right down to her footwear. When she stepped out of a plane in Chuck Taylor sneakers, many voters saw a politician who had literally walked miles in their shoes.”

— Senior correspondent Charlotte Alter in cover story for Time’s Person of the Year issue for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, December 21/28, 2020.

Why Is “Obama-equse” Kamala Such a “Terrific” and “Conservative” Choice?

Co-host Anthony Mason: “Why, as you say, would she make a terrific Vice President?”…

Co-host Michelle Miller: “She seems so Obama-esque. She checks so many boxes of representation. Does she galvanize an energy that looks or feels similar to you?”…

Mason: “What does it say to you about the state of the Democratic Party that the daughter of immigrants from Jamaica and from India was kind of the conservative choice here?

— Questions to former President Barack Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett on CBS This Morning, August 12, 2020.

Going “Wild” For Candidate Who “Cares About Equality Deep Within Her Soul”

“I had her at the ‘Know Your Value’ San Francisco event. The crowd went wild. And she really connected with the women in the audience….She cares about women’s issues. She cares about equality deep within her soul, from her own experience. We’ve had a great time knowing her so far, and it’s kind of exciting, this pick.”

— Co-host Mika Brzezinski on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, August 12, 2020.

Boffo Reviews for Biden Convention Speech

Host Jake Tapper: “I’ve heard Joe Biden give, I don’t know, dozens, hundreds of speeches over the years. I have to say this was one of the best, if not the best performance I’ve ever seen.”…

Host Wolf Blitzer: “I agree with Jake, it may have been the best speech Joe Biden ever delivered.”

— CNN’s live coverage of the Democratic National Convention, August 20, 2020.
